Susan Juban states: ca. (?I'm not sure - he was b. 1812; d. 1894, maybe about age 60-70 here, so about 1880 - I think someone told me that this might be a sketch of Lewis and not a photo and that it might have been done about the time he wrote his Life & Experiences, but he would have been 82 then and he looks younger here. Ca. 1880 seems about right to me.
