This is part of these records: Brice applied for bounty land on 25 November 1850. At that time, he claimed to have been 72 years old and a resident of Patrick County, VA. He further declared that he "is the identical Brice Edwards who was a private in the company commanded by Captain William Jones in the 5th Regiment of VA of Virginia Militia commanded by George Hairston in the War with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812. That he was drafted into the service at Franklin County Courthouse in the State of VA on or about the 9th day of March 1814 for the term of three months and continued in service in said war for the term of three months and was honorably discharged at Contanment (sic) Peach Orchard 22 June 1814 by Colonel George Hairston." Jane was 88 years old and a resident of Dan River Twp., Patrick County, VA.
